SPACEGASS Course: Modeling and Analysis of a Warehouse

This course, includes a step-by-step modeling and analysis of a steel-framed warehouse in SPACEGASS as well as interpreting the analysis results in a simple and practical way. In this course, You will learn about: 1. The different tools and features in SPACEGASS, how to specify different support conditions and end member restraint conditions, draw nodes and members, assign different sections/materials to a member (for a specific code/country), how to use different tools such as “subdivide” a member, “Copy” and “filter” as well as changing the graphics of the software to show the design actions and loads. 2. Labelling and annotation in SPACEGASS, how to see node numbers, member and section’s numbers and names, end fixities and member origins and local axis. 3. Defining dead load and live loads cases in the form of uniformly distributed and point loads and their load combinations for strength and serviceability checks to the structure in accordance with these load cases. 4. Defining wind load cases and their load combinations for strength and serviceability checks in different directions perpendicular to the structure along with a high-level overview of wind loading on structures. 5. Using program’s tools to extend the model by copying the loads and members such as adding additional struts and bracing members and some other necessary modifications. 6. looking at different analysis methods in SPACEGASS and run Non-linear Static Analysis and Buckling Analysis. 7. Reviewing design actions, such as bending moments, axial loads, shear forces, displacements, torsion moments and base reactions. 8. Define envelope load cases for strength and serviceability checks. By the end of this course, you will learn how to practically use SPACEGASS to model and analyse a structure.
